Events We Are Supporting

Sunday Streets is a great community event to check out every year! We got to play a round of bean bag toss with our customers in the Franklin neighborhood last year.

Event season is just around the corner! If you attend any of these events, keep an eye out for our green bins and throw your compostable items and food waste in them.

MTB Missoula Mullet Classic. This year, we are working with MTB Missoula to reduce their waste and keep material out of the landfill from their events. Check out all their races and the work they do to keep Missoula’s mountain bike trails in tip top shape!

Clark Fork River Market. We will be down at the Clark Fork Market near Caras Park most Saturdays this summer with a booth. Look for us near dragon hollow and stop in and say hello! While they don’t have our bins around the entire area, we will bring an extra bin and collect any compostable items you may have. Most vendors use compostable coffee cups and to go products, so don’t throw them in the trash! The dates we will be there area: 5/20, 6/3, 6/17, 7/1, 7/8, 7/15, 7/29, 8/12, 8/26, 9/9, 9/13, 10/7, 10/21.

Out to Lunch and Downtown Tonight. Lunch and dinner in the park with live local music, what could be better? The Missoula Downtown association requires vendors to use compostable serving ware at these events, so composting here is easy. Take a break from the office and come enjoy over 20 different food vendors and stay cool under the big pavilion.

KettleHouse Amphitheatre concerts and The WIlma Shows. Did you know Logjam is committed to reducing waste at their concert venues? They have been working hard over the past few years to only serve food with compostable serving ware. Their beer and wine cups, plates, silverware, and sauce dishes are all compostable. After every show we sort and haul away up to 26 64-gallon bins of food waste. They have even thought about getting rid of their trash cans all together as they just don’t need them except for material that is brought in from outside the venue. Throw your beer cans in the blue bins and food waste in our green bins and know that it will get composted!

Big Sky Brewery’s Summer Concert Series. Big Sky Brewing is also all in on composting. They require all their vendors who serve food to use compostable serving ware. Big Sky hosts some larger shows, and we sort and haul over 50 64-gallon bins of food waste to the compost facility every show. Look for our bins all over their grounds during these fun shows!

Missoula Pride Block Party. The Pride Block party is one of Missoula’s bigger events downtown every summer and is happening this year on June 16th-18th. They are excited to be using compostable drink cups and we are excited to help make sure they get composted. They are expecting over 7,000 people this year, so we will be planning to pick up a ton of food waste. The event happens on Main street between Higgins and Woody on June 17th from 2:30 pm to 10 pm. Come down and see us under our green canopy as we will have some fun things to give away!

The Western Montana Fair. This is going to be our biggest job of the year. Over 80,000 people will visit the Missoula County Fairgrounds and enjoy vikings, cotton candy, fry bread, nachos, pizzas, beer, and more. We hope we can capture as much of the food waste as possible The staff at the fairgrounds are working hard to make this the most sustainable fair ever.

River City Roots Festival. This will be our 5th season in a row helping out at this event. The River City Roots Festival is an annual free party with large touring musical groups. Come down and see local art and enjoy music and dancing in the streets. Keep an eye out for the Green Team, they have made the composting element of this event successful as they routinely check the compost bins for contamination.

Garden City Harvest Farm Party. Local food grown at the PEAS Farm by UM students is served up at this annual event. It’s located up the Rattlesnake off Duncan Drive. There is no other event with a better view of Missoula with the sounds of local artists filling your ears. Not just for the younger crowd either, as guests of all ages attend.

Home ReSource Benefit Auction. Mark your calendar for this night of amazing food and a great live and silent auction. Prior to the event, Home ReSource hosts Spon Con, where teams of builders scour Home Resource for items that they will craft into anything from intricate art pieces to beautiful furniture sets. The creations are then auctioned off at the Benefit Auction a month later. We take this chance every year to donate land support Home ReSource and their youth programs.

Sunday Streets. Each year, the City of Missoula blocks off large sections of busy streets and fills them with games, fitness classes, food vendors, and art. It’s a great chance for neighbors to get out and engage with each other and celebrate an active lifestyle. The event will take place this August, and the date will be released soon!

If you have an upcoming event you would like to have our services at, get in touch and let’s divert the food waste from your event!
