Events & Outdoor Venues

No event is too large or small. From family get-togethers to large events we can help keep it sustainable with organic waste collection. Compost at one time events, concert series, and gatherings of any size.

We’ve helped dozens of organizations reduce the environmental impact of their events, including the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, KettleHouse Amphitheater, Big Sky Brewery, Clark Fork Market, and the Western Montana Fair.

Need Compostables?

The state of compostables is confusing as companies are transitioning from plastics to compostables. It is not always clear whether something is compostable, biodegradable, greenwashed, or straight plastic.

Be certain your disposables are compostable and not just greenwashed by ordering with Missoula Compost. We offer compostable serving ware by the sleeve for small events or the case for large events.

If you don’t see what you need, contact us. We may be able to supply it!

Why Compost at Events?

  • By composting organic waste, events can help reduce the waste produced at large events. Improper decomposition of organic matter in landfills generates greenhouse gas emissions. Composting ensures your organic waste makes its way back into the soil to fuel future growth.

  • Composting initiatives at events engage attendees, sponsors, and vendors in sustainable practices, fostering a sense of community responsibility. Large events are often attended by diverse communities, making them ideal platforms for promoting environmental awareness.

  • Composting at large events provides an opportunity to educate event attendees about the importance of waste reduction and composting.

We can help with awareness campaigns and signage to promote sustainable practice and encourage individuals to participate. Missoula Compost and HomeReSource have developed the ‘Green Team’ to support waste management at large events.

  • Large events generate significant amounts of waste, including food scraps and single use disposable containers. Reduce the overall volume of waste and minimize the environmental impact of your event.

  • Composting can lead to cost savings by reducing waste disposal fees, which are often based on the weight of waste sent to landfills.

Event Sustainability Volunteer Opportunities

Home ReSource developed “The Green Team” to keep Missoula’s events clean. The Green Team supports events by helping participants and spectators sort waste into the correct stream: recycling, compost, or landfill.

Volunteering at local events is also a great way to educate and raise awareness about sustainability in the community. Volunteers set an example by showing other local events in our community our expectations to keep Missoula clean and green.

Keeping Missoula events sustainable allows them to thrive and grow without depleting our local resources.
